Does Private Health Insurance Cover Menopause Care?
Published: 30 October 2026
Menopause-related consultations or treatment may be covered only if they meet your policy's terms. Coverage depends on the service, medical history, referral route, outpatient benefits and any exclusions; a dedicated menopause service may instead be a separate paid product.
Check what the policy includes
Ask whether a GP or specialist consultation is eligible, whether treatment or prescriptions are included, and if there are limits on follow-up appointments. Confirm whether your policy requires a referral or insurer authorisation, and whether symptoms before joining affect cover.
Do not assume that having mental health or outpatient cover automatically includes every menopause service. Ask the provider to distinguish an insurance benefit from a subscription or self-pay appointment.
Speak to a qualified healthcare professional about symptoms and treatment options. Insurance terms should not delay medical advice.
